Time Stops for No Mouse, by Michael Hoeye

Time Stops for No Mouse, written by Michael Hoeye, is about an average mouse named Hermux Tantamoq who lives in Pinchester. He fixed watches and clocks of all kinds, and spends quiet nights with his pet ladybug, Terfle. Nothing extraordinary has ever happened to him until one day a young daredevil aviatrix, Linka Perflinger enters into his shop for her watch to be fixed that was wrecked in a storm and leaves with his heart. When the watch is finished and kept perfect time, Linka was supposed to come by. But when she didn't pick it up, Hermux began to worry... After his new-found crush goes missing, Hermux is thrown into a mystery head first.

This novel was a very unique suspense novel with unexpected surprises and those actually think questions. Another thing that I like about the book is the interesting names that took me a while to actually pronounce! Names like Pup Schoonagliffen, Tucka Mertslin, and Ortolina Perriflot. I would recommend this to people that like quick reads and not to scary suspense novels. Great for young and old alike!

Beastly, by Alex Flinn

Beastly, written by Alex Flinn, is a modern day version of the beloved story, Beauty and the Beast. When Kyle Kingsbury, a snotty, popular boy in high school who lives in New York City, upsets a disguised witch, she turns him into a beast, hoping that it will teach him a lesson. When his dad finds out, who is a majorly popular news man, takes him to almost all of the hospitals in the U.S. because he is convinced that it is some kind of disease. No one knows why he became beastly. His dad takes Kyle to this remote area on the outskirts of New York City. There is a huge house where he was supposed to live in. Kyle's father apparently has no love for his son, but also doesn't want anyone to find out that Kyle is a beast. He gets him a blind tutor and the old maid. Kyle knows that the only thing that will return him back to his human self is true love. But who would love a beast?...

I liked this book because of the changing that went though during this book. Kyle seemed to be living the life anyone would want, and he got whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. He was so spoiled, it was like he owned the world. When he turned into a beast, he was limited. He still had his rotten attitude, but it didn't stay around for long. Everything pretty much changed his attitude when she came along. But, of course, I can't say because that would spoil the book, wouldn't it?

I recommend this book to people who like teen life, romance, and twisted-up fairy tales. :D

Rapunzel's Revenge, by Shannon and Dean Hale, illustrated by Nathan Hale

Shannon and Dean Hale’s book, Rapunzel's Revenge, is a twist on the famous tale written by the Grimm Brothers. Rapunzel grew up all her life with Gothel as her mother. One day she finds out that Gothel isn’t her real mother, her real mother was a slave in the slave mines. Rapunzel gets mad and Gothel locks her into a huge hollow tree. Food grows inside the tree and water is provided that always replenishes because Gothel has growth power. Around her sixteenth birthday, she escapes and is determined to rescue her real mother. In order to find out more, you need to read the book. ;)

I really liked this book. It is very adventurous, and the artwork was pretty cool. I liked the personalities of the characters. Rapunzel wasn’t a prim and proper princess who waited in the tower for someone to save her, she found a way out on her own. She is a very independent person that can do things on her own but is not tuned into the outside world. Jack was very witty. He had a unique personality about him and cared very much for Rapunzel. Seeing them bicker reminded me of how brother and sister tease one another. Gothel was a very distinguished villain by her looks to her tone that the book gave her. She was just bound for trouble. Rapunzels mother, which we don’t have the pleasure of knowing her name, is very protective over Rapunzel and doesn’t want her to go away. She is very patient though, and waits for her like a good mother would do.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, a little romance, and a nice twist on old fairy tales that we all grew up with
